The Karnataka handicapped Welfare association has been founded to cater the need of disabled for their education, training and rehabilitation during 1979. Under the objectives, a National Residential School for the deaf was started on 24-10-79 with hardly 10 children on roll. Gradually, the institution developed into multi service unit and at present there are 220 deaf children in bangalore and 100 deaf children at Hassan branch are studying from 1st to 10th standard. The institution also provides training and rehabilitation to them resulting in more than 200 educated hearing handicapped children having assigned with placement.
